Anderson's 43 Leads Saint John to 4th Straight Win

(Moncton, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, battled out their fourth straight win on the road Wednesday night against the Moncton Miracles with a final score of 114-108.

The Miracles got an early lead in the first quarter with a basket from Isaac Butts but it was back and forth as both teams battled to move up in the standings. The Miracles closed the first lading 24-26 over the Mill Rats.

The second quarter, both teams were neck and neck as the Mill Rats outscored the Miracles by one point. A strong quarter was played by Antonio Burks who dropped 11 points alone. By half, Burks and Anthony Anderson led the team with 11 points each, putting the Mill Rats one point behind the Miracles, 49-50.

The one point lead turned to favour the Mill Rats as they battled it out in the third, closing ahead of the Miracles, 84-83.

The last quarter, the Mill Rats cranked up the heat, playing a tough defensive game hitting the boards. With just over 8 minutes in play, Jerice Crouch passed off to Anthony Anderson for 2. The Miracles tried to answer back on their end, but were held off to one shot as Kenny Jones grabbed the defensive rebound, passing off to Anderson, who drove down the court for another 2 points with the layup. Mill Rats pulled ahead 96-87.

With 9 seconds on the clock, the Miracles had caught up, making it a 2 point game. Crouch proved he could shoot under pressure and gave the Mill Rats the edge they needed to continue to control the ball, eventually securing the road win, 114-108.

Leading the Mill Rats was Anthony Anderson with the game high 43 points, while Kenny Jones added 21 and Crouch added 13.

Leading the Miracles was Devin Sweetney with 26 while Oliver McNally had 25. Isaac Butts had 19 points while Darrell Wonge had 20, each with 10 boards, putting them in double double territory.

The Mill Rats rise to 15-15 on the season, rising to second place in the competitive Atlantic Division. The Miracles fall to last place, sitting at 15-18.
