Anderson and Staff Not Returning for 2019 Season

Watertown, NY - When the Watertown Rapids take the field for the 2019 season, it will be with new leadership at the helm. The Rapids announced today that their first year skipper, David Anderson, will not be returning for a second season.
In the Rapids' inaugural season of 2018, Anderson led the team to a PGCBL playoff berth, finishing second in the central division. Anderson's squad would go on to win the first round playoff game at defending league champion and 2018 division champion Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, before falling in the semifinals to Amsterdam.
Rapids' General Manager Brandon Noble says the team will announce its new head coach in a press conference on Tuesday, October 30th. The press conference will be held in the lobby of JCC's Mcvean gymnasium at 4:00pm.
Noble had high praise about Anderson's leadership during the Rapids' first season, "David did a great job with assembling our roster and bringing them to the playoffs. We were extremely proud of how our guys represented the Rapids on and off the field, and that's tribute to David's coaching style. We're happy for David advancing his career and fully understand the nature of the coaching world."
Anderson, who serves as Pitching Coach for Emory University (Atlanta, GA) during the school year says he had a great experience with the Rapids. "There were more positive takeaways from this summer than I could begin to highlight. I think the biggest thing I'll remember was the experience of young players, coaches, and front office staff who did not previously know each other, coming together in a short period of time to achieve a common goal. It was a very special summer and season that I'll never forget."
In addition to Anderson's full-time collegiate coaching position at Emory, he has been hired as Head Coach by the Fayetteville, NC SwampDogs in the Coastal Plain League for the summer of 2019.
Anderson's assistant coaches from 2018 have likewise advanced their collegiate coaching careers, securing new positions at the beginning of the 2018 school year. Caleb Abney now serves as Volunteer Assistant Coach at Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, TN). Nick Ascue was appointed Assistant Coach for Centre College (Danville, KY) in August.
The Rapids are members of the highly touted Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, playing their home games at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
