Washington Kastles News Release

On Opening Day at Wimbledon, new Kastle Anastasia Rodionova will have the honor of playing on the most famous tennis court on the planet when she meets World No. 1 Maria Sharapova. Anastasia and Sharapova are scheduled for the second match on Centre Court and they are expected to begin play between 10 and 11 am DC time. First up is defending champion Novak Djokovic against Juan Carlos Ferrero.

It's the second time already this season that Anastasia has been dealt the toughest draw possible at a Grand Slam tournament. She lost to No. 1 seed Caroline Wozniacki in the first round of the 2012 Australian Open.

Though Anastasia has never defeated Sharapova in four previous meetings, she has a history of stringing upsets at the All England Club. In 2010, she defeated two-time Grand Slam champion and No. 19 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the third round at Wimbledon.

Five-time Wimbledon champion and fellow Kastle Venus Williams is also in action today. She is playing Elena Vesnina in the second match on Court 2, which should begin between 8 and 9 am DC time.

Both Kastles' matches will air via online streaming on ESPN3, with television coverage on ESPN2.
