
Anaheim Storm Win In Overtime Over San Jose Stealth

Anaheim, CA (March 26, 2005) - After an eight game losing streak, victory was again in the hands of the Anaheim Storm (3-9), as they defeated west coast rivals San Jose Storm (4-10), 13-12 in overtime.
This defeat marks the first time in National Lacrosse League history that the Storm have defeated the Stealth. The Storm had an early lead with Scott Stewart (2g, 4a) scoring the first goal of the game at 2:17 in the first quarter. The Storm maintained control of the game, with the Stealth always on their heels.
The Stealth rallied in the fourth quarter with three goals in a row to tie it at 10-10 with nearly seven minutes left in the game. The Storm pulled ahead with goals by Peter Morgan (2g, 1a) and Shawn Cable (2g, 3a) but the Stealth answered with two more goals ending regulation in a 12-12 tie. Just over three minutes into overtime, Richard Morgan scored the winning goal in front of a home crowd of 4,834 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. The final score was Anaheim 13, San Jose, 12.
Other Storm contributors were Casey Powell (2g, 5a) and Ryan Powell (4a). In goal for the Storm was Matt Roik, who saved 33 of 45 shots.
The Stealth were led by Ryan Boyle (2g, 5a) and Curt Malawsky (2g, 3a). Brandon Miller was in goal, saving 27 of 38 shots.
Next weekend, the Storm take their game on the road, facing the Colorado Mammoth (7-5), Saturday, April 2. This will be the third show-down this season for these West Division teams. They return home on Friday, April 9 against Minnesota.
