An ABA success story: Eric Sandrin
March 3, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Bellevue, WA. Michael Tuckman, CEO of the Bellevue Blackhawks ABA professional basketball team expressed great pride in the fact that one of his players, Eric Sandrin, had been signed to a contract with the Harlem Globetrotters in an email to the ABA league office. Tuckman wrote:
"I thought you'd enjoy reading Seattle Times sports columnist Steve Kelley's story regarding Eric Sandrin, the Blackhawks player who was signed by the Harlem Globetrotters after his appearance in the ABA All Star game. (http://www.seattletimes.com). If you recall, there was a mixup at the game and Sandrin was not on the list for the West All Stars. The night before the game, I asked you to intervene and do the right thing in adding Eric to the West team - as it was announced on the ABA website. Because you guys stepped in and helped him out, this fine young man has an $8000 per month contract with the Globetrotters through September. And that's what this league should be about..getting them to the next level. Thank you."
And thanks to you Mike for giving Eric and others an opportunity to do what they love - to play professional basketball. That's also what the league should be about. Good job. For more information, visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
