Amsterdam Mohawks Defeat Albany Dutchmen, 2-0, in PGCBL Matchup

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - Three Amsterdam pitchers combined to throw a two-hit shutout as the Amsterdam Mohawks (3-2) defeated the Albany Dutchmen (3-1), 2-0 in PGCBL action on Friday in a game that featured 26 strikeouts between the teams.

Amsterdam broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth after back-to-back singles to start the inning was followed by an RBI groundout by Richie Barrella (Manhattan), which proved to be the winning run.

Peyton Plumlee (Mississippi State) started for the Mohawks and did not factor in the decision despite striking out nine in five innings of work allowing the only two hits Dutchmen hits of the evening. Ryan McLinskey (Seton Hall) picked up the win by tossing three hitless innings in relief. He surrendered two walks and had four strikeouts. Ryan Falls (Marshall) converted his second save of the year by retiring the side in order in the ninth.

Greg Marino (Stony Brook) took the tough luck loss for the Dutchmen. He did not allow a hit until the fifth inning but was charged with Amsterdam's first run after being replaced in the sixth. In five and two thirds innings. he struck out 11 Mohawk batters against two walks and three hits.

Cole McNamee (Wake Forest) was the lone Dutchmen batter to reach base twice. He finished 1-for-2 with a walk. Elvis Peralta (Marshall) was 1-for-3 with a run scored for Amsterdam. Barrella and Sam Praytor (Alabama) were each 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Amsterdam added insurance in the eighth when Dale Stanavich (Marshall) hit a lead-off double and later scored on a Praytor's RBI single.

The Dutchmen will play on the road again on Saturday at 7:05 in Oneonta before returning home on Sunday at 5:05 for 10th Anniversary Celebration Night.
