(Rochester, September 20)... The Rochester Americans took a cue from the past as they unveiled their third sweaters for the 2010-11 American Hockey League season. The American Spirit Dance Team proudly displayed the 1960s throwbacks at a press conference this afternoon at The Blue Cross Arena.

"It's a testament to the City of Rochester," said Amerks President Lewis Staats with the Amerks Hall of Fame in the background. "We're the second oldest team in the league and it's a symbol of returning to our roots. We're a cornerstone franchise in the AHL and it's an appropriate testament to our long standing history in the City of Rochester."

Dance Team members Jillian, Allison and Stephanie modeled the sweaters, which are now on sale in the Amerks team store. They will also be available online in the coming days.

Staats also introduced Jay Advertising as the Amerks' new advertising agency for the upcoming season. Jay Advertising, which is an integrated advertising and marketing agency headquartered in Rochester, will handle all of the team's media buys on TV and radio. In attendance from Jay Advertising were President Greg Smith, Executive Vice President Guy Smith and Account Manager Matthew Soike.

"We're going to help them return to a team of greatness," said Guy Smith. "We're excited about the new partnership and being part of a team with such a rich history and tradition."

The news comes two days prior to the Florida Panthers-Boston Bruins NHL Exhibition Game at The Blue Cross Arena. On Thursday, September 23rd, the arena will be abuzz with pregame skates by the Panthers and the Boston Bruins. Florida has morning skates at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., while the Bruins hit the ice at 12:30 p.m. The two teams will meet later that evening at 7:00 p.m.

The Panthers come to town with Honeoye Falls native Marty Reasoner and former longtime Amerks defenseman Nathan Paetsch. The game also marks the return of former Assistant Coach and former Amerk legend Doug Houda and past Amerks winger Daniel Paille, not to mention this year's second overall pick Tyler Seguin. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the Amerks office at (585) 454-5335, stopping by The Blue Cross Arena Box Office, calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or online at Ticketmaster.com.
