Amerks Slip Past B-Sens in Overtime, 4-3

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators fell to the Rochester Americans in overtime, 4-3, on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. With the loss, the B-Sens fall to 1-6-0-0 against the Amerks this season, and have lost six straight games to the North Division rivals.

Paul Szczechura proved to be the hero for the Amerks as his 16th goal of the season beat B-Sens netminder Mike McKenna at 1:11 of overtime.

T.J. Brennan, Nick Crawford and Travis Turnbull also recorded goals for the visiting Amerks. Colin Stuart and Mark Voakes each earned a pair of points as they each drew a pair of assists in the game.

Pat Cannone, Wacey Hamilton and Andre Petersson each tallied goals for the B-Sens in the loss.

In his second straight start in goal for the B-Sens, McKenna made 41 saves as he fell to 14-18-1 on the season. David Leggio turned aside 33 shots to improve to 23-17-1.

Binghamton ended the night 1-for-3 with the man advantage and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The B-Sens travel to Wilkes-Barre tomorrow to take on the Penguins at 3:05 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM) beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
