Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans spring into April with three games in three nights. The three-game stretch begins in Rochester on Friday, moves through Albany Saturday, and ends on Sunday in Buffalo.

The Amerks (48-12-4-6) lead the American Hockey League with 106 points and can clinch the North Division regular-season title this week. The formula is a combination of five points earned by Rochester and not earned by Manitoba. Rochester will then secure its first division championship since 2000-01. The Moose (39-20-3-7) trail the Amerks by 18 points, but can still get 110.

Rochester hosts the Cleveland Barons on Friday, April 1st at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The contest is the seventh of eight meetings between the two North Division foes. That night, the Amerks will hold a silent jersey auction to benefit FOODLINK.

The Amerks then hit the road Saturday to battle the Albany River Rats at the Pepsi Arena on Saturday, April 2nd. The 7:30 p.m. contest is the sixth and final meeting of the season between the two teams. Rochester is 5-0-0-0 against the Rats this season.

The next "home" game moves to downtown Buffalo, as the Amerks host the St. John's Maple Leafs on Sunday, April 3rd at 5:05 p.m. on the blue ice at HSBC Arena. The contest is the fourth and final regular season game in Buffalo for the Amerks.

The last game featured Ryan Miller's eighth shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Cleveland on March 20th. That was the first game played on the blue ice. The experiment has the traditional blue lines replaced by orange lines and the red center ice line is dark blue. The faceoff circles are orange, while the end lines and crease lines remain red.

Rochester won the first two games in Buffalo, while setting franchise attendance records in both instances. The first game featured an Amerks' 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on November 5th in front of a franchise-record crowd of 12,126. In the second game, Rochester defeated the Edmonton Road Runners 2-0 on December 28th in front of a new record crowd of 17,898.

All three games will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and amerks.com. Friday's game will be televised tape delayed on Saturday, April 2nd at noon on Time Warner Cable Channel 98.
