April 19, 2012 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - Following a thrilling 3-2 win in Game 7 over the Spokane Chiefs, the Tri-City Americans are pleased to announce the dates for the 2012 Kal Tire Western Conference Finals schedule.
Tri-City will match-up with their longtime U.S. Division rivals, the Portland Winterhawks, in the third round, best-of-seven series. Portland, the defending conference champions, finished just 2 points back of Tri-City in the regular season standings, as the Americans won the 10-game regular season series 6 games to 4. It will be the first time the two clubs have met in the post-season since 2004, when a rookie netminder Carey Price backstopped the Americans to a 4-1 first round series upset over Brandon Dubinsky and the Winterhawks. This will be the fifth time the two WHL rivals have met in the post-season, with the overall series tied at 10 wins apiece.
Games 1 and 2 will be played at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, starting on Friday, April 20th. Game times are 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to check the Americans' website, www.amshockey.com, in the coming days for further playoff information. Starting at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, tickets will go on sale through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer outlets, or online at ticketmaster.com.
