Durham Bulls News Release

Durham, NC - The Durham Bulls today announced that American Idol Finalist Clay Aiken will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sing the National Anthem at Thursday night's game between the Durham Bulls and Rochester RedWings.

Aiken, 24, is one of three finalists vying for the honor of the next American Idol. The Raleigh Native is making his first public return to the Triangle on Thursday with camera crews from the show looking to get footage of Clay's home life for upcoming episodes. His National Anthem performance at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park will be the only chance for fans to see him sing live during his visit.

Prior to throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, Aiken will announce that he is donating an item for a silent auction to be held during Thursday night's game on the concourse. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the local chapter of the Autism Society. The Raleigh native will then throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sing the National Anthem. An autograph session is planned contingent on Aiken's schedule.

Other events planned for Thursday night's game include a live bull and professional bull rider signing autographs on the Diamond View level, 50 cent Berk's hot dogs for fans throughout the night, and Reggy the Entertainer will be on hand to perform throughout the game.

Tickets for Thursday's game may be purchased at the box office from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM on Thursday, by phone at (919) 956-BULL, or online at www.durhambulls.com.
