American Association Welcomes Rosemont in 2018

Tuesday, May 16th, 2017 WINNIPEG, MB - On Monday, the American Association announced that Rosemont, Illinois has been granted an expansion membership following an unanimous vote of league directors on May 9th.
The new franchise will launch during the 2018 American Association season, and will play in a state-of-the-art, $55 Million stadium with a seating capacity of 6,300. Steven Gluckstern and Shawn Hunter spearhead the Rosemont ownership group.
Gluckstern was previously a co-owner of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and Phoenix Coyotes, and currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Rio Grande Neurosciences, Inc. The company focuses on developing, acquiring, and licensing non-invasive brain stimulation therapies used to treat pathologies related to the central nervous system.
Hunter formerly served as President of the Phoenix Coyotes, as well as AEG Sports, and the Deportivo Chivas soccer club. The Lawrence, Kansas native is currently a board member and investor for Total Sports Asia (TSA). TSA is Asia's leading independent sports marketing agency, and is committed to enriching lives through sports and creative ideas.

Rosemont, Illinois is located approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, and is home to the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves. The city was previously considered as a potential replacement site for Wrigley Field, home of Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs.
"With a superb new facility and strong ownership, Rosemont will be a tremendous addition to our league," said American Association Commissioner Miles Wolff. "We are excited to have another league member in the Chicagoland area, and look forward to bringing the American Association's exciting brand of baseball to Rosemont."
The American Association begins its 12th season this Thursday (May 18th).
