Shreveport-Bossier 3, Sioux Falls 1
Southpaw Ryan DiPietro (pictured) held a dangerous Sioux Falls offense in check for the second night in a row, delivering seven shutout innings and surrendering just three singles in a 3-1 win over the Pheasants. 1B Christopher Garcia and DH Palmer Karr Jr. stakes the Captains to an early lead with back-to-back RBI singles in the first, and the third run came when SS Uriak Marquez scored on an error in the fourth. Sioux Falls' only run came in the seventh, when 2B Joe Anthonsen scored on a groundball double play off the bat off CF Reggie Abercrombie. LHP Chris Salberg was solid in his start for the Pheasants, striking out eight and holding the Captains to just two earned runs in six innings of work. Shreveport-Bossier takes a 2-0 series lead and can complete a series sweep with a victory tomorrow night in Sioux Falls. Richard Salazar gets the nod for the Captains against Ryan Rodriguez at 7:05 PM CST.
