Shreveport-Bossier 3, Sioux Falls 1

Shreveport-Bossier struck early for three runs in the first four frames and coasted behind starting pitcher Osvaldo Rodriguez's seven strong innings in a 3-1 victory over Sioux Falls in Game 1 of the American Association Championship Series. Rodriguez surrendered just four hits and an unearned run while striking out eight to pick up his second win of the postseason. The Captains wasted no time supporting Rodriguez, with 3B Andres Rodriguez driving in 1B Christopher Garcia on an RBI single in the first. Rodriguez later added a solo home run to begin the fourth. Garcia drove in the team's other run on a groundout in the third. Pheasants' RHP Ben Moore delivered a quality start in his eight innings of work, but the offense could muster only a single run on RF Gus Milner's seventh-inning sacrifice fly in the loss. The two teams meet again Wednesday night for Game 2, beginning at 7:05 PM CST. Sioux Falls' Chris Salberg faces off against Shreveport-Bossier's Ryan DiPietro.
