The South Division used five runs in the sixth inning to build a lead that they would not relinquish, despite a rally from the North at the American Association All-Star Game held in Sioux Falls, SD. After rolling through the competition with 15 home runs in the home run derby, El Paso's Jorge Alvarez kept a good thing going with a 2-for-4 effort in the All-Star Game. Alvarez hit a three-run homer, doubled and added another run scored to earn the game's Most Valuable Player Award. South Division pitcher Cory Walters was credited with the win thanks to two scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and struck out three. Ned Darley of the South notched the save after allowing one unearned run in the ninth inning. Starting catcher Mathew Kent also helped the cause for the South, going 1-for-2 with a home run in the win. 3B Matt Imwalle of Atlantic City was 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for the North Division in the losing effort.
