St. Joe scored twice in the bottom of the second inning and held on to win a pitching duel in the first game of a doubleheader, 2-1 over St. Paul. Starting pitcher Andrew Edwards allowed just one run on five hits over six innings of work to pick up the win. Closer Jamie Tricoglou was perfect in the seventh with two strikeouts to record his 16th save of the season. C Mikaela Dworken and 2B Denver Kitch each had an RBI to account for all of the Blacksnakes' runs. LF Jose Torres went 1-for-3 with a double for the Saints.

St. Joe DH Jake Whitesides went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBI to help the Blacksnakes past St. Paul 7-6 and complete the doubleheader sweep. With the wins tonight, St. Joe moves to within one game of the Saints in the wild card race. Relief pitcher Matt Johnson pitched two perfect innings in relief of starting pitcher Jesen Merle to pick up the win. Closer Jamie Tricoglou, who closed out game one also, notched his 17th save of the season. For St. Paul, DH Nick Gretz went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Coastal Bend 7, Pensacola 3

Coastal Bend LF Brian Fryer's three run homer in the fourth inning put the Aviators in front for good as they took a 7-3 victory over Pensacola. For Fryer, it was his third homerun of the season. RF Matt Creighton added three hits of his own to the powerful Coastal Bend attack, which pounded out 15 hits all together. Starting pitcher Bryan Heaston allowed just three runs over seven innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 7-3 on the season. Pensacola C Jose Yepez went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the game.

Lincoln 12, Fort Worth 5

HR: FW-Terence Green (5), Carlos Adolfo (9); LN-Bryan Warner (8), Casey Gordon (3)
RF Bryan Warner hit his eighth homerun of the season and had four RBI to help Lincoln rout Fort Worth 12-5. SS Casey Gordon also homered for the Saltdogs, his third of the year. LF Pichi Balet had a big night at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Starting pitcher Roger Lincoln allowed three runs, just one earned, over 5 2/3 innings to get the victory. With the win, he improves to 5-4. 3B Terence Green and RF Carlos Adolfo each homered and combined to drive in three runs for the Cats.

Sioux Falls 9, Sioux City 3

Sioux Falls scored six runs over the final two innings to blow the game open and take a 9-3 victory over Sioux City. DH Abner Arroyo and LF Chad Hermansen combined for five hits and four RBI to lead the Canaries at the plate. Arroyo homered in the game, his 12th of the season. Starting pitcher Aaron Garrison allowed only two runs over 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win and improve to 6-5. For Sioux City, C Chris Grossman had two hits in the game, including his 12th homerun of the year.

The game was postponed due to rain. It is scheduled to be made up Tuesday, August 15, at 6:05 p.m. as part of a doubleheader. Both games will be seven innings.
