MASL St. Louis Ambush

Ambush Visit Milwaukee Saturday

December 5, 2014 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
St. Louis Ambush News Release

St. Charles, MO - The St. Louis Ambush make their only trip of the 2014-15 MASL season to Milwaukee when they clash with the Wave this Saturday, December 6 at 6:05 p.m. St. Louis enters Saturday's contest looking to improve on their 1-3 record and to earn a win against the Milwaukee squad that has prevailed in both previous meetings this season, while the Wave will try to improve on their 3-2 record.

Even though the Wave defeated the Ambush 8-4 in their most recent duel, on November 28 at the Family Arena, the Ambush need only look at their own recent history to prove they can return the favor by defeating Milwaukee at home. The Chicago Mustangs defeated the Ambush 8-4 at the Family Arena on November 8, then the Ambush turned the tables on Chicago by defeating the Mustangs 8-7 at Sears Centre on November 22. St. Louis will seek to replicate that feat against the Wave this Saturday at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

The Ambush will be looking for offensive help from leading scorers Corey Adamson, Elvir Kafedzic and Blake Ordell (three goals each). They can take advantage of help from Stefan St. Louis, who has proven to be an invaluable playmaker with six assists and two goals of his own. Defensively, the Ambush will be looking to defender Chad Vandegriffe to continue stopping shots before they reach goalkeeper Greg Crook. Vandegriffe leads the league in that category with 13 blocks thus far. In goal, Crook has proven to be an effective stopper with a .717 save percentage.

Milwaukee's potent offense is led by Luan Sales Oliveira, Ian Bennett and Marcio Leite. Oliveira compiled four goals and an assist in the two previous games against the Ambush while Bennett contributed four goals and Leite tallied four assists. Wave goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra is out for the remainder of the season recovering from a torn MCL and ACL, so guarding the net falls on the shoulders of veteran Nick Vorberg, who has a .667 save percentage in three games this season.

Following Saturday's match in Milwaukee, the Ambush return home to the Family Arena when they host Detroit Waza Flo for the first time ever on Saturday, December 13 at 7:35 p.m. That night will also honor the 1994-95 NPSL Champion St. Louis Ambush team on the 20th Anniversary of capturing the title. Festivities include a halftime introduction of the players and a highlight video, a pregame autograph session on the concourse beginning at 6:00 p.m., and all fans will receive a free 1995 Ambush team photo, compliments of Mercy, the official medical provider of the St. Louis Ambush.
