October 29, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Allentown Ambassadors News Release
The Allentown Ambassadors traded right-handed relief pitcher Carlos Gomez to the New Jersey Jackals to complete last season's trade for outfielder Cedrick Harris, team officials announced today.
The Ambassadors acquired Harris on June 18th for a player to be named later from the Jackals. Harris hit .249 for the Ambassadors the rest of the way, including .282 at Bicentennial Park. He also played great defense in center field, tying the league record for assists in a single season with 15.
Gomez pitched in 36 games, all in relief, last year, compiling a 2-2 record and three saves. He had a 3.23 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched.
"We are sorry to see Carlos go," Ambassador Director of Player Procurement and first-baseman Vic Davilla said. "In deals like this you can only protect a certain number of players and the rest are fair game. Unfortunately, Joe [Calfapietra, the manager of the Jackals] wanted Carlos. We are certainly very happy with Cedrick Harris and the job he did for us last season. We wish Carlos the best of luck next season, except for the times when he's pitching against us."
Group tickets can be reserved for next season right now. The Ambassadors have a special offer available only until Thanksgiving for groups, so call our office at 610 437-6800 to sign up today!
