Allentown Ambassadors News Release

Allentown, PA The Allentown Ambassadors will once again have the services of all-star catcher Ryan Bordenick this upcoming season, team officials announced today.

Bordenick, 27, returns for his third season with the Ambassadors, after an all-star season last year. Bordenick set career bests in batting average, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. The lone Ambassador all-star, Bordenick hit .308 with 100 hits, 52 runs, 29 doubles, 11 home runs, 68 RBI and slugged .511. All except batting average were team highs.

"I'm looking forward to the season," Bordenick said. "We didn't have the season we would have liked to last year, but I think we've got some players coming in who can do a good job and hopefully bring a championship to Allentown."

The University of South Carolina graduate was a 9th round draft pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in 1998 and played three seasons for the Brewer organization, including two seasons at single-A Beloit of the Midwest League. He joined the Ambassadors for the 2001 season, taking over for departed Ambassador Hall of Fame catcher Jared Sadlowski, and hit .274 with 6 home runs and 30 RBI.

"Ryan is one of the top-five catchers in the league," Director of Player Procurement Vic Davilla said. "He handles the pitchers well and brings a winning attitude. Hopefully the others will feed off that."

The Ambassadors will be holding open tryouts May 3rd at Bicentennial Park. Participants need to bring their gear and $30. The Ambassadors' season begins with the home opener at 7:05 against the Bangor Lumberjacks. For ticket information, call (610) 437-6800.
