
Amarillo awarded expansion team for 2005

CHICAGO - The af2 Board of Directors approved an application from Texas Panhandle Football, LLC for an expansion arenafootball2 team in Amarillo, Texas, the League office announced today.
"We have the utmost confidence in this operating group's commitment to run a top-notch organization both on and off the field for many years," said af2 Executive Director Jerry Kurz. "And we're excited to be able to bring the total entertainment experience of Arena Football to Amarillo."
The team will be called the Amarillo Dusters and will play its home games at the Amarillo Civic Center beginning in April of 2005.
"The af2 is a perfect fit for Amarillo," said Dusters' Director of Football Operations Warren McCarty. "We view the af2 as an entity that has quickly developed into a recognized and respected developmental football league, which is why we are thrilled to be accepted into the family."
