Alves and Ubiparipovic Earn NASL Team of the Week Honours

OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC continued their unbeaten ways for an eleventh straight time on Sunday thanks to the 95th minute match-winner from defender Rafael Alves who headed in the corner kick delivered from midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic. On Wednesday, the NASL announced that the duo were named to the Team of the Week. Alves' stoppage time winner helped Fury FC build a six point lead in the Fall Season standings and maintain their two point lead over New York in the Combined standings.
For the second time in four games Rafael Alves found the back of the net and while his stoppage time winner captured all the headlines, his sound defensive play should be equally noted. Alves helped Ottawa record their league-leading eighth shutout of the season and their seventh during the club-record unbeaten streak. This is the fourth time this season that the Brazilian defender has earned a spot on the NASL Team of the Week. On Monday, he was named NASL Player of the Week, the second straight week an Ottawa player has earned the award - Carl Haworth picked up the honour last week.
Sinisa Ubiparipovic earns his first Team of the Week honour following a very motivated performance in Fort McMurray that helped Ottawa capture their first road win of the season. Ubiparipovic collected his team-leading third assist of the season setting up Alves' winner from a corner kick.
Ottawa heads to Indianapolis to tackle Indy Eleven on Saturday. Fury FC return home for another three-game home stand to close out August against Minnesota (August 15), New York (August 26) and Tampa Bay (August 29).
