ASHEVILLE, N.C., September 24, 2002 - Former Wake Forest point guard Ervin Murray and local UNC-Asheville standout "Josh" Pittman have been allocated to the Asheville Altitude, according to an announcement today by Karl Hicks, Executive Director of the National Basketball Development League.
"We are excited about this first group of announced allocated players," said Hicks. "They are a talented group with ties to our local communities that allow them to make a difference close to home while pursing their basketball dreams."
Murray, 22, and Pittman, 26, the first of-four players to be allocated to the Altitude. Two more players will be allocated to the Altitude prior to the NBDL Draft on Oct. 31. Each NBDL team will bring in up to 25 players to NBDL training camps on Nov. 3.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Ervin and bring back Josh to the Western Carolina community," said Altitude Head Coach Joey Meyer. "It's great to have Murray, who will bring such a high level of competition from the ACC and Pittman, who did such great things for UNC-Asheville, join our family. I look forward to positive contributions from both of them."

As a junior he led the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio with 84 assists and 26 turnovers. Capable of playing both guard positions, Murray joins the Altitude following a stint with the Passing Lane team in the Southern Summer Pro League in Long Beach.

He was one point from a triple-double in the state title victory with nine points, 13 rebounds and a championship record 13 assists.
Pittman returns to Asheville after playing professionally for four seasons in Europe.
