Alpena picks up six of eight points on the week

Alpena MI: The Alpena IceDiggers played their busiest stretch of the schedule for the 06-07 season and came away with three wins in four games. On Wednesday Alpena beat the Traverse City North Stars 7-4. In Marquette on Friday the Marquette Rangers snapped their six game winless streak against the IceDiggers with a 5-3 win. Alpena would get revenge on Friday with a 3-1 win over Marquette and on Sunday afternoon the IceDiggers defeated the USA U-17 team by a score of 6-1.

Zach Barron (St. Louis MO) lead the offensive attack with 5 assists in 4 games. Several players had 4 points on the week Ricardo Yesue (Allen Park MI) 1 goal 3 assists, Todd Rudasill (Powell OH) 3 goals 1 assist, Mike DeGrazia (Novi MI) 1 goal 3 assists, and Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI), Erik Peterson (Alpena MI) each had 4 assists.

Five players chipped in 3 points on the week. Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI) recorded his first Junior "A" hat trick in Sundays win over USA. Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie WI) 2 goals 1 assist, rookie Marco Ruggeri (St. Clair Shores MI) added 3 assists, Kerry Bence (St. Clair MI) 1 goal 2 assists, and veteran defensemen Eric Roman (West Bloomfield Hills MI) also had 1 goal and 2 assists.

Taylor Doorlag (Kalamazoo MI), Justin Stadler (Livonia MI), Jimmy McCusker (Novi MI), Carl Nielsen (Lorain OH), Chad Billins (Marysville MI), and Chris Hendrickson (Hancock MI) each had 2 points.

Mike Jarboe (Grosse Pte. MI) picked up 3 wins making 83 saves.

"I am very proud of my guys they showed tremendous grit with playing four games in five games, they deserve the day off on Monday before we get back at it for three more games this weekend." said head coach Kenny Miller

The IceDiggers return to Northern Lights Arena this weekend for 3 games. On Thursday Alpena will host the USA U-17 Team at 7:00PM. The Marquette Rangers will be in town on Friday and Saturday to play the IceDiggers Friday's game will face off at 7:00PM and Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:30PM.

Alpena has 20 games remaining with 11 of those games coming at Northern Lights Arena where the IceDiggers currently have a record of 16-1-1. "Home ice has been really good to us this season, we have the best fans in the league and when they get behind us it really makes the guys want to play hard for those fans that come out and support us night in night out." added Miller. The IceDiggers are riding a franchise high 11 game winning streak inside NLA.
