Wildcats Face Bandits in Weekend Series

The Wildcats played three games against the St. Louis Bandits this weekend. This marked the Cats third straight week of away games. They were unable to come away with a win this weekend, and they currently sit in fifth place in the NAHL South Division.

The Cats were defeated in the first of three games against the Bandits on Friday night which ended with a final score of 4-1. The Wildcats started the game off strong and walked away with a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period. The lone goal of the period was connected on by Mike Schumacher at the 0:40 mark. He was assisted on the play by Adam Cardwell and Brett Morrell. The Cats came up scoreless the remainder of the game, while the Bandits were able to capitalize on four goals.

The Wildcats took the ice against the Bandits again on Saturday but would fall short to the Bandits with a final score of 4-3. The Wildcats were able to connect on two goals in the first period of play. Mike Schumacher started of the scoring for the Cats at the 18:45 mark and was assisted on the play by Michael Hrtus. The next goal was scored by Adam Cardwell who was assisted on the play by Michael Hrtus and Zach Josepher at the 19:20 mark. The Cats took a 2-1 lead going into the second period where they connected on their final goal of the game. Eddie Effinger was able to put the puck in the net at the 12:28 mark. He was assisted on the goal by Adam Cardwell and Skylur Jameson.

The final game of the series took place on Sunday night. The Cats were unable to defeat the Bandits in the contest falling short 7-3. The first period started off with a lot of energy. The Cats and Bandits each connected on three goals during the period. The first goal by the Cats was put between the pipes by Michael Hrtus at the 8:45 mark. He was assisted on the play by Mike Schumaker. The Cats were able to strike again on a powerplay goal at the 18:00 mark when Kyle Olson connected on a goal which was assisted by Luke Salazar and Joel Sauer. The final Cats goal was scored by Ville Aman. Sean Nealon and Skylur Jameson were able to assist him on the play at the 19:27 mark of the first period.

The Wildcats will be back at home this weekend at the KYC as they face the St. Louis Bandits. This weekend will mark the first of three straight weeks of home games for the Cats. The games will be held on February 2nd & 3rd and the puck will drop at 7:05pm for each of the contests.
