Alpena jumps back into first

Ann Arbor MI: The Alpena IceDiggers started the first of three straight road games this weekend with a commanding 5-2 win last night in Ann Arbor against the U-17 Team.

Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie WI) lead the way offensively scoring 2 goals while adding 2 assists. The defensive pair of Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI) and Chad Billins (Marysville MI) each netted goals, Kerry Bence (St. Clair MI) while also scored in the win.

Powell OH native Todd Rudasill chipped in 3 assists, Billins also earned an assist as did Evan West (Marysville MI), Taylor Doorlag (Kalamazoo MI) and captain Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI).

"I am really happy with the way we played tonight." Said coach Kenny Miller, "This is a good way to start our weekend, and we will now turn our attention to the Phantoms."

Mike Jarboe (Grosse Point Park MI) made 28 saves to earn his 9th win of the season with Alpena.

The IceDiggers will now travel to Mahoning Valley to take on the Phantoms on Friday and Saturday night, both games start at 7:00PM and can be seen live at www.mvpphantoms.com. Both teams sit atop the North division standings with 41 points, however Alpena has 1 game in hand on the Phantoms.
