Tornado players to deliver teddy bears to Medical Center of Plano on December 12th -The Texas Tornado Hockey team and Medical Center of Plano have teamed up to bring smiles to children who are in the hospital. Back on Friday, November 24th during a 5-3 home game win against the Santa Fe Roadrunners, the Texas Tornado hosted their annual "Teddy Bear Toss Night." The thousands of fans on hand were asked to bring a stuffed animal or teddy bear to toss onto the ice after the first Tornado goal, which ended up being by veteran forward, and Texas native #16 Adam Flink. After Flink's goal, stuffed animals and bears littered the Deja Blue ice surface thanks to all the generous Tornado fans. The stuffed animals and teddy bears were then collected, and on Tuesday, December 12th they will be delivered to children in the emergency, pediatric in-patient, and outpatient surgery department at Medical Center of Plano from 11:00am "" 1:00pm. Texas Tornado Head Coach and General Manager Tony Curtale, Tornado Vice-President of Communications and play-by-play voice Alex "Cheeks" Kyrias, and several Tornado players will make the visit. "It is a humbling experience for me and the players, but at the same time we realize that we are bringing happiness to kids who are going through a tough time right now. This is a strong testament to how great the Tornado fans are and their willingness to help out kids that are going through a stretch of tough times," said Curtale. "This type of experience is good for our players because it exposes them to something other than hockey and puts them in a situation where they have to deal with a different life experience."

Tornado win 3rd in a row in Alaska - Behind a power play goal from #5 Jake Newton with :16 seconds remaining in the 3rd period, the Texas Tornado won their 3rd straight game last night, defeating the Alaska Avalanche, 4-2. The Avs got the best of the Tornado to start the game, outshooting them 12-10 in the 1st period and scoring the game's first goal for a 1-0 lead. The Tornado responded in the 2nd period with the game-tying goal from #17 John Bullis, with assists to #22 Brian Reagan and #11 Ryan Fuller. The Tornado took a 2-1 lead minutes later thanks to a shorthanded goal from #9 Justin King, who made a great play according to Head Coach Tony Curtale. "Justin made a real nice play as we were trying to kill that penalty. He buried it at a point in the game when the momentum shifted toward us, so it was a big goal for sure," remarked Curtale. The Tornado would outshoot the Avs 13-10 in the 2nd period and take a 2-1 lead to the lockerroom. The Avs would tie it thanks to some untimely Tornado penalties to #28 Mike Cifelli and #7 Nielsson Arcibal, who were whistled for two penalties just :53 seconds apart. Avs forward Victor Nordenson made the Tornado pay with his second goal of the game to tie the score at 2-2. "I thought there was nothing (Thomas) Tragust could have done on that goal," said Curtale. "He played great all game and we just took some dumb penalties." #34 Thomas Tragust was a rock for the game, making several key saves that kept the Tornado in it. Ultimately, Tragust would stop 28 of 30 Avalanche shots. The Tornado got a break late in the game with a power play and Jake Newton made them pay as he got open on the left side of the umbrella and hammered home a drive with only :16 seconds left in the game. #15 Sean Roadhouse and King got the assists. For King it solidified the "Gordie Howe hat-trick," which consists of a goal, an assist, and a fight in the same game. Bullis added an empty-net goal with :01 second left with another assist to #21 Rob Blanchette.
