All-Star Weekend Tickets On Sale

(Westport, Conn., January 12, 2004) â The Major Indoor Soccer League and the St. Louis Steamers announced that tickets for All-Star Sunday, featuring the MISL All-Star Game and MISL Legends Game, will go on sale tomorrow, January 13, 2004. All-Star Sunday will take place February 29, 2004 at The Family Arena in St. Charles. Tickets are also available for the MISL's All-Star Family Festival, the MISL's daylong program of youth skills competitions, open practices for the All-Stars and Legends, autograph/photo sessions, and other soccer activities, taking place on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at The Family Arena. The two days of activities and events are part of the MISL's third annual All-Star Weekend, a celebration of the game of indoor soccer and its stars of the past, present and future.

"The MISL is pleased to bring its All-Star Weekend celebration to St. Louis, in recognition of the return of the St. Louis Steamers, a tribute to the great fans of St. Louis, and a salute to the rich historic roots of the game of soccer in St. Louis," said MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan. "The Steamers, in their inaugural season in the MISL, revive the tradition of the great teams and star players of the early 1980s, many of whom will be featured in the Legends Game. As the St. Louis community has grown westward, the Steamers have found a home in the soccer-rich community of St. Charles County, and fans of all ages have been enjoying the return of this fast-paced, action-packed sport."
The first All-Star Game ever hosted by The Family Arena will feature the very best MISL players in a USA vs. International format. The All-Star Game will kick off at 1:05 p.m., and will be followed by the Legends Game, matching a team of MISL Legends against a St. Louis Steamers Legends team. The Legends Game will feature a galaxy of former indoor greats, including former Steamers standouts Steve Pecher, Tony Glavin, and Slobo Ilijevski. "It will be a spectacular day for soccer fans of all ages, whether they are re-living their memories from the original Steamers MISL franchise, or enjoying our sport for the first time," said current Steamers Head Coach Daryl Doran, who broke in with the MISL Steamers in 1982 and is currently in his 20th professional indoor season.
The All-Star Family Festival has been expanded to a daylong program of spectator and participatory activities. The schedule includes the SPALDING All-Star Youth Skills Competition, practices for the Legends and All-Star teams, the All-Star Player Skills Competition, and the MISL's Autograph Alley. In the SPALDING All-Star Youth Skills Competition, youth players from throughout the area can measure their soccer skills, with the winners in each age group introduced on the field during the Sunday All-Star Game. Autograph Alley provides an opportunity for fans to mingle with the All-Star and Legends players, take pictures and get autographs.
Tickets for the All-Star Sunday events will range from $18 to $35. General Admission tickets for the All-Star Family Festival are $10, or $5 when bought along with an All-Star Sunday ticket. Youth soccer players ages 7 to 14 can compete in the SPALDING All-Star Youth Skills Competition by purchasing the Youth Skills Combo Package, including a ticket to a Steamers game (either February 7 or February 16), a ticket to the All-Star Festival, and a ticket for All-Star Sunday. A Youth Skills practice will be held after each of the Steamers games, and the Competition itself will be held during the All-Star Family Festival. All participants will also receive a replica SPALDING MISL Game Ball. Youth Skills Combo Packages range from $30 to $44, a 40% discount from the value of the package.
