Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Explosion adds All-Star Center Ike Ohanson to the roster for the remainder of the season Monroe, WA - May 28th 2009 - The Snohomish County Explosion make a big mid-season pickup today with former Arkansas State University center Ike Ohanson coming over from Seattle to join coach Weakley. Ohanson will be wearing #42 this weekend against the Vancouver Titans and brings a missing piece to the Explosion puzzle, a true big man that can play at the IBL level. With a IBL leading scorer Devon Greene and star power forward Richard Ford, Ike will make sure teams that double up on Greene on the outside pay inside.

Ike averaged 31 points last year in the IBL All Star Game in 2008 (North vs. South) and has played three years in the IBL and is currently ranked fifteenth in the league for rebounds. Ike averaged 14.3 points per game last year with the Tacoma Jazz to go along with his 8.4 rebounds per game. In the previously two years Ike has been a double-double player in points and rebounds. Look for Ike to immediately be put into the starting line-up for this Saturday's game. Strange as it may be Ohanson and the owner Nathan Mumm both lived in the Ivory Coast - Africa at the same time. Mumm was located in Abidjan during his early childhood the same time Ike was born in 1980. The Explosion are currently 5-6 on the season and look forward to redeeming themselves at home. The young talented team has nine games left in the season with seven of them at home. The Explosion look to the Monroe Sports Arena and the home town fans to return on May 30th against the Vancouver Titans. Tickets can still be purchased online at www.explosionbasketball.net or via the phone at 425-339-BALL.
