All-Star Audra Richards Returns to the Whitecaps

August 21, 2020 - National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) - Minnesota Whitecaps News Release

SAINT PAUL - After scoring 9 goals and adding 11 assists in her first season with the hometown Minnesota Whitecaps, two-time NWHL all-star forward Audra Richards has re-signed with the team.

"Hockey has always been a part of my identity and I'm very appreciative of the Minnesota Whitecaps and the NWHL for giving me the opportunity to be a part of history and for continuing to advance the women's game," said Richards. "Season 6 is going to be a monumental year for the NWHL and I cannot wait to be part of it and to play before the amazing Whitecaps fans and future draft picks. Let's Play Hockey!"

Richards was seventh in points on the Whitecaps in 2019-20, going 9-11-20 in 24 games as Minnesota advanced to the Isobel Cup Final. She spent the previous season with the Riveters, sharing the team lead in goals (8). Richards has earned selection to participate in the NWHL All-Star Game in both of her seasons in the league.

Richards, 26, played at Maine from 2012-2016, scoring 45 goals and adding 25 assists for 70 points in 132 games. She scored 15 goals as a sophomore and 14 as a senior - leading the Black Bears in goals and points in both seasons. Before Maine, Richards earned letters at Tartan High School in hockey, soccer and track and field.

"Audra's work ethic and intensity set the tone for our entire team," said Whitecaps GM and co-head coach Jack Brodt. "Her love of the game shows in every shift as she gives 110%. We are proud to welcome Audra back for her second season with the Whitecaps."
