MONTREAL ‚¬" Forward Ali Gerba and goalkeeper Bill Gaudette were both named on Monday Players of the Week in the North American Soccer League (NASL), following the Impact 5-0 shutout win on Sunday night in Edmonton.

Gerba was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals against FC Edmonton. The Impact striker registered his first two goals of the season in the first half. He scored more than one goal in a regular season game for the 7th time of his career and reached the 50-point mark, now ranking 7th in all-time leading scorers in team history.

Gaudette earned the Defensive Player of the Week honour after recording his second shutout of the season. He made seven saves and faced 11 shots versus FC Edmonton. The Impact has not allowed a goal in the last 235 minutes of regular season play.

‚¬Å“Ali (Gerba) played well on Sunday night. Even though he hadn ‚¬â„¢t scored in the first games of the season, he stayed calmed and focused. He was rewarded during the last game. Bill (Gaudette) is a goalkeeper who is growing with us at the moment and we can see the progression. He made key saves against Edmonton, combined with good work from the defence in front of him. Those honours are great for the club and for the players ‚¬â„¢ confidence, ‚¬Â said Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos.

The Impact will play on Wednesday the second leg of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship semifinal against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, at Empire Field (11pm, Rogers Sportsnet ONE). The Impact lost 1-0 the first leg of the aggregate goal series.

The Impact will then face Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez and the New York Red Bulls at Saputo Stadium on May 11 at 7:30pm. Excellent tickets are still available for the game, starting at $20, through Admission Network (admission.com / 514-790-1245) or at the Saputo Stadium ticketing office.
