Alex Leavitt Named Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week

Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Swift Current Broncos forward Alex Leavitt is the CHL player of the week for the week ending November 23 after scoring six goals and five assists for 11 points in four games.

Leavitt helped the Broncos to four wins last week. He started the week with a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, and two assists in a 7-6 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds on November 18. He added two goals in a 5-1 win over the Portland Winter Hawks on November 21, scored the first goal in a 3-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on November 22 and finished the week with a goal and three assists in a 6-3 win over the Saskatoon Blades on November 23.

The 19-year-old native of Edmonton, AB played two season with the University of Wisconsin before joining the Broncos this season. He is third in team scoring with 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points in 28 games.

Eric Himelfarb of the Kingston Frontenacs was the OHL player of the week after scoring five goals and nine points in three games. Josh Hennessey of the Quebec Remparts was the QMJHL offensive player of the week after recording three goals and three assists in two games and PEI Rocket goaltender Ryan Mior was the QMJHL defensive player of the week after posting allowing just two goals on 35 shots in two games last week.
