Albany Legends Re-Sign Damone Morris

Albany, New York - The Albany Legends are pleased to announce that acrobatic, athletic and fan favorite Damone Morris, starting swingman for the Albany Legends in 2010, will return for another season with the team in 2011. Morris was inked to his contract on January 20, 2011.
Morris, a graduate of Eckerd (NCAA2), is a native of Lakeland, Florida and the cousin of NBA Veteran Tracy McGrady. A 6'3" leaper with above the rim tendencies, Damone helped the Legends acquire the IBL Championship Trophy in 2010 (16.9 ppg, 3.8 apg) and wishes to do the same in 2011. Included in his accolades as a player are an Honorable Mention for Division 2 All-American status (2008), and a contract with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA's Developmental League in 2008.
"I had the chance to both meet Damone and work with him directly in the spring of 2010 when the Legends held their out of town tryouts" Head Coach Ben Smith states. "What he brings to the table is electric and he is a must-have for the organization to start the 2011 season strong."
"In my conversations with him, he has been determined to bring another championship back to Albany this spring," Albany Legends Co-owner Steve Miller said. "...his attitude, character and perseverance are second to none, making him an asset for the organization, on and off the court. I fine young man."
Since his departure from the area after winning a Championship with the Legends, Morris has had several upper level professional tryouts. He most recently played with the Heartland Prowl of the ABA, and is working on bettering his game in hopes for a long contract overseas and winning another championship for the fans in Albany.
"First things first..." Morris said in a phone interview, "I am excited to be back. Now we need the whole area behind us so we can bring the championship back to Albany again."
