Alabama Steeldogs' Open Eighth Season with Rivalry Game

Birmingham, Ala. - The Alabama Steeldogs' will go head-to-head with their biggest rival to kick off their 8th season in 2007.
The Steeldogs will open their schedule Friday, March 30th, on the road against in-state rival Tennessee Valley in Huntsville. Only 100 miles separate the Steeldogs from the Vipers, with the two squads sharing a storied history of hard-hitting and close-scoring games. The Vipers won both match-ups in 2006, leaving the Steeldogs hungry for some payback to open their 2007 season.
"We have a fantastic but challenging schedule," said Steeldogs managing partner Scott Myers. "We have a lot of excellent match-ups at home this year that will provide our fans with a very entertaining football experience."
The team moves to the National Conference's South Division in 2007, with this year's division opponents including the Florida Firecats, South Georgia Wildcats and the Vipers. The Steeldogs will play a home-and-home schedule against each division opponent, beginning with South Georgia in their home opener at the BJCC Arena on Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
The team will face non-conference opponents Louisville Fire and af2 expansion team, Cincinnati Jungle Kats, in home-and-home match-ups. The team will also square off against non-conference foes in the Tulsa Talons, Texas Copperheads, Quad City Steamwheelers, Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers.
