Alabama Hammers Game 5 Preview
April 23, 2014 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Alabama Hammers News Release
One of the highlights of the Alabama Hammers 2014 schedule is set for Monday, April 28, as the Hammers host the Harrisburg Stampede in a special Monday Night Football edition of the Professional Indoor Football League at the Von Braun Center. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
"We will face a versatile team on Monday as the Stampede are dynamic on offense running the ball as well as they throw it," said Dean Cokinos head coach of the Hammers. "We really need to put forth 60 minutes of solid football and eliminate the negative plays and have more winning plays, collectively, from all 20 players on our roster."
The Stampede come into the game Monday night with a 2-2 record and a 48-27 victory over the Richmond Raiders last week. The Hammers (0-4) took it on the chin against Nashville in last week's contest 58-28, but Cokinos knows his roster is different than the team which won last year's PIFL Championship and is working toward revamping and moving forward to winning ways.
"We have lost nine starters from the 2013 team and had another four key players not report to our camp and their replacements haven't really stepped up and performed as expected," added Cokinos. "We will continue to try and build and will make the necessary changes needed for us to compete at a higher level."
The special Monday Night Football event is First Responders Night. (Details coming soon)
The Monday evening contest will be available on the Hammers Radio Network, which is available on WAFN-FM, 92.7-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville and WWIC-AM, 1050-Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will handle the radio broadcast.
