
Akron Racers Release 2017 Home Schedule

AKRON, OH -The Akron Racers released today the full home schedule for the 2017 NPF season. In addition to 24 games against NPF competition, Akron welcomes the Canadian National Team for three exhibition games this coming summer.
After an 11-game road trip to begin the season, the Racers return to Firestone Stadium to kick off the 2017 season on Friday, June 23 against the USSSA Pride. The three-game series against the Pride (June 23-25) jump starts a nine-game in 10-day home stand for the Racers. The Chicago Bandits (June 27-29) and the newly named Texas Charge (June 30-July 1-2) head to Akron to complete the nine-game set for the Racers.
Following a quick trip to Chicago, Akron returns to Firestone Stadium, July 7-12 for six straight games against the defending Cowles Cup Champion Bandits and the Scrap Yard Dawgs. The final game against the Dawgs on Wednesday, July 12, will be a special 12:05 pm mid-week start time.
After three-game series on the road against the Pride, Charge and Dawgs, the Racers return to face the Pride one final time in 2017, July 25-27.
On Monday July, 31, Akron hosts the Canadian National team in a special exhibition game starting at 7:05 p.m. Canada returns on August 1 to take on the Racers in a special double header beginning at 5:35 pm. This special "doubleheader" ticket includes two five-inning contests.
The Racers will tune up for the 2017 NPF Championship Series with a six-game home stand to end the year. Akron welcomes the Dawgs to the corner of Wilbeth Road and South Main Street Tuesday, August 8 through Thursday, August 10. The Racers close out the regular season against the Charge Friday, August 11 through Sunday, August 13.
With the exception of the day game on Wednesday, July 12 and the double header against Canada, all games Monday through Saturday will begin at 7:05 p.m., while first pitch for every Sunday game is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. For ticket information contact the Akron Racers box office at 330-376-8188 or visit the team website at www.akronracers.org. About the Akron Racers: The Akron Racers, headquartered in Akron, OH, is the oldest existing team in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league. The Racers will celebrate their 16th season of play in 2017. The Akron Racers competed in the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL) for two seasons in 1999 and 2000 and in the NPF since 2004.
