AIFL Week Four Preview and Capsules
March 16, 2006 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release
HUNTINGTON, W.V. -- Such is the learning curve in indoor football: one week your team is playing its first game ever and the next week it's in a big game on the road.
That's the challenge of the Huntington Heroes, who debuted with an impressive 62-13 rout of the Miami Valley Silverhawks at home last Saturday and now travel to face the undefeated Johnstown (2-0) Friday night in week four of the American Indoor Football League 2006 season.
"We've only got three guys who have indoor football experience, so playing our first-ever road game will definitely be enlightening," said Heroes coach Garry McPeak. "Johnstown's an experienced team that's well coached with great players. It's a big game."
This could actually be an indoor game that features defense. The Heroes gave up just 13 points - tying a league record - last week while Johnstown's defense did all the scoring in a 21-14 win at Stuebenville and gave up just 16 points to Syracuse last week.
"Our defense won us a game and kept us in it the second,'' said Riverhawks coach Brian Basille. "If we keep on this pace, we can expect great things on that side of the ball."
It's a light week in the league with only three games this weekend and one mid-week game next Wednesday. The entire Southern conference is idle.
