Ahrens and Schaeffer Named to Midwest Division All-Rookie Team

The Minnesota Magicians are excited to announce that goaltender Vaughan Ahrens and defenseman Nolan Schaeffer have both been named to the 2014-2015 Midwest Division All-Rookie team.

Ahrens, who previously played for Wayzata High School, started 28 games for the Magicians this season posting a 3.37 goals against average (GAA) and a .906 save percentage (SV%). He also competed in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan representing the Midwest Division Team. At the event, Ahrens went 1-0 with a goals against average (GAA) of 1.00 and a save percentage (SV%) of .958.

Schaeffer, a native of Marshall, Minnesota, was a standout defenseman for the Magicians all season. He played in 44 regular season games contributing 6 goals and 9 assists for a total of 15 points. In 3 playoff games, he added another goal and had 7 shots in the Divisional Round series vs. the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Schaeffer also competing at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, playing in two games and contributing an assist while competing for the NAHL Selects team.
