AHL Announces 2012 Preseason Schedule

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today its composite 2012 preseason schedule, leading up to the start of the league's 77th campaign.
AHL training camps open on Sept. 28, and the first preseason game is scheduled for Oct. 1.
The AHL enters the 2012-13 season with the same 30-team lineup as last year. There was one affiliation swap during the offseason: the Syracuse Crunch are now the top development team of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, while the Norfolk Admirals are developing prospects for the Anaheim Ducks.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 88 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the 11th year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2011-12.
The 2012-13 regular season begins on Fri., Oct. 12.
