February 13, 2022 - Major League Rugby (MLR)
Austin Gilgronis News Release
AG Rugby secures the Cuisine Solutions Cup with a historic 57-12 win over Old Glory DC at home at Bold Stadium.
The AGs set three franchise records tonight to the delight of the home crowd.
The team scored the fastest try in franchise history; taking only 28 seconds to score the opening try of the match. This try from Mark O'Keeffe came from brilliant attacking prowess from eventual Man of the Match Marcel Brache.
The AGs set a franchise record in points scored, tallying 57 points in the match; breaking their 2021 record of 47 points.
The AGs also broke their franchise margin of victory record (set last week 36 points) with a 45 point victory. The AGs narrowly missed the MLR margin of victory record by only two points (league record is held by LA with a 47 point victory over Houston in 2021.)
It's safe to say the AGs were on fire tonight and hold the top spot on the league table at 2-0 with 10 points.
Head Coach Sam Harris says, "We wanted to come out the gates firing this week and we did that. It's always good when you can set some records at home for your fans. Next week we'll need even more support against at Utah team that had our number last year."
Come out and support the AGs next Saturday night as the team takes on the Utah Warriors at home at 7pm, gates open at 5:30!
