AG Rugby Records Statement Win over Rugby New York in Final Pre-Season Match
January 29, 2022 - Major League Rugby (MLR)
Austin Gilgronis News Release
To the delight of the Austin home crowd, AG Rugby put a 58-7 result over Rugby New York.
While both sides featured many new faces to the team, the result is very much a statement win with the 2022 regular season just a week away.
Coach Sam Harris says, "We're really pleased with the result from not only the starters - that put in a strong 40 minutes of work - but the younger guys and Academy guys that stepped up to the plate when their name was called. We couldn't be more excited for our home opener next week under the lights of Bold Stadium."
New signing Julian Dominguez made his debut in orange tonight and had the 1000 home fans rocking as he trucked through defenders with ferocity.
Hometown favorite and AG veteran Zinzan Elan- Puttick scored two tries off the bench for AG, a subtle nod to his two-try performance against Seattle in 2021.
The AGs look primed for a championship-chasing 2022 season and will kick off the regular season next Saturday at home against league-newcomer Dallas Jackals.
Pre-Match festivities include; live music, youth flag rugby, armadillo racing, hype squad performances, and more. Gates open at 4:30 and kickoff is at 6pm!
