AG Rugby Holds Top Spot in MLR with Bonus Point Win over Utah

February 20, 2022 - Major League Rugby (MLR)
Austin Gilgronis News Release

AG Rugby defeats the Utah Warriors 24-10 and secures sole ownership of first place in Major League Rugby with another bonus-point win.

The AGs also denied the Warriors any points on the table; sweet redemption over the team that denied the AGs a playoff spot in 2021.

"Another huge shift from our boys to go three from three with bonus points to start the season," says AG Head Coach Sam Harris. "We were a bit frantic in the first half but put it together again in the second half. We feed off the energy here at Bold Stadium and AG Nation is beginning to make our home ground a fortress for us."

The play that broke the match wide open was Dom Akina's second-half try. Akina made the move from backrow to center this offseason and has been an impact sub through the first three matches. Tonight, he subbed in at the 55th minute and scored a 60-meter try within 30 seconds of taking the field.

The AGs are off to a tremendous start to the 2022 season and will look to keep the momentum through their first away trip of the season this next Saturday up in Seattle.

AG Nation can come out and watch the match at the official AG Watch Party at Little Woodrows!

Then on March 5th, the AGs will be back at home to take on rival LA Giltinis. Get your tickets now!
