June 4, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release
CHICAGO - The Arizona Rattlers (10-1) remain atop the latest Arena Football vPower Rankings, as tabulated on AFLFieldPass.com, following a 64-57 victory over the Philadelphia Soul (5-5) in Week 11.
Arizona has been No. 1 in the vPower Rankings for five straight weeks. Rattlers quarterback Nick Davila rushed for what would be the game-winning score from one-yard out to give Arizona a touchdown advantage with 12 seconds left in the contest. The defending ArenaBowl champions will square off with the San Antonio Talons (5-5) on Saturday, June 8. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
Coming in at No. 2 this week are the Spokane Shock (8-3), who defeated last week's No. 2 team, the San Jose SaberCats (7-3), 75-45. The loss ended San Jose's five-game winning streak and dropped the SaberCats to No. 5 in the vPower Rankings. San Jose will try to rebound against the Pittsburgh Power (3-7) on Saturday, June 8 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
The Shock will meet the No. 3 team in the vPower Rankings in Week 12, as they host the Jacksonville Sharks (8-3) on Saturday, June 8. The game will pit two of the League's last three ArenaBowl champions against each other, as Spokane brought the Foster Trophy home in 2010, while Jacksonville won the title in 2011. Kickoff in Spokane is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
The Tampa Bay Storm (7-4) jumped from No. 6 to No. 4 in the vPower Rankings this week following a thrilling 65-62 victory over the Iowa Barnstormers (4-7). Storm quarterback Adrian McPherson found Joe Hills for a three-yard touchdown as time expired to give the Storm their seventh win of the year. The Storm will turn their focus to the 52nd edition of the "War on I-4" when they host the Orlando Predators (2-8) on Saturday. The game will be played in front on a national audience in "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" on CBS Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
