
AFL "Rules Game" Monday Night on ESPN2

ESPN2 will present a special "Rules Game" telecast -- designed to teach fans the unique aspects of the Arena Football League game -- when the Chicago Rush will visit the Kansas City Brigade on Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Monday, April 12, at 8:30 p.m. ET. Play-by-play commentator Bob Wischusen and analyst Ray Bentley will call the game, which will air on ESPN2 and in high definition on ESPN2 HD. It will be simulcast on ESPN360.com, ESPN's live sports broadband network and ESPN Mobile TV, ESPN's first 24/7 channel for wireless, is delivered on the MediaFLO platform.
Fans new to Arena Football, or even seasoned viewers hoping to absorb the finer points of the game, will benefit from a number of production enhancements, including detailed graphics, extensive use of the telestrator and other planned visuals. In all, the ESPN production crew is preparing a glossary a more than 100 AFL terms, highlighting rules and formations. Bentley, a former league coach and general manager with an exceptional knowledge of the AFL, will focus on the cause and effect of plays as they occur during the game. Also, for the first time during an ESPN AFL telecast, both the umpire and referee will wear microphones.
Brigade quarterback D. Bryant will be making his second AFL start, after throwing for a season-high 332 passing yards and seven touchdowns last week. For the Rush, two-time AFL Champion quarterback Sherdrick Bonner, along with wide receiver Damian Harrell, a 2008 top-10 league leader in both receiving yards (591) and touchdowns (12) will lead Chicago.
Monday's game kicks off the first of 10 consecutive weeks of regular-season Monday night AFL games on ESPN2. Thirteen of the AFL's 17 teams will play in these games with Chicago and Philadelphia each appearing three times.
