af2 teams up with Beyond Sports, LLC. on online player/coach network and pro combines
November 2, 2007 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release
CHICAGO - The arenafootball2 league (af2) and Beyond Sports, LLC. have teamed up on a unique partnership to create an exclusive online player recruiting network for current and potential af2 athletes called www.af2network.com. This unique idea has been brought to life thanks to the efforts of Beyond Sports and its founder and CEO Jimmy Kibble, a former college standout and af2, AFL and NFLE player. The two groups have also partnered to operate professional scouting combines for af2 players and free agents interested in breaking into Arena Football.
The af2 initiated the development of this new, enhanced player recruiting network and national scouting combine element to provide its players and prospective players with an innovative way to market themselves like they have never been able to before.
"We're excited about teaming up with Beyond Sports on this unique and cutting-edge project," af2 President Jerry Kurz said. "The national combines and new player recruiting network will provide players with another forum to showcase their skills and give them access to our entire roster of head coaches. Our league is about creating opportunity, and no one knows that better than Jimmy. With his assistance, we believe this venture will be a tremendous success."
With af2network.com, computer-savvy athletes can register and create web profiles that are accessible to coaches and player personnel executives in a secure and real time environment. The benefits of this ever-expanding network do not end there. Soon prospects and players will be able to update their personal information, playing experience, statistics and career achievements.
"I personally have had the incredible good fortune to play for a major college program, the af2, AFL, NFLE and preseason NFL, and I know first hand the difficulties in trying to get the exposure and recognition to get to the next level," Kibble said. "We are very excited to be presenting a network that will be utilized by af2 and AFL coaches as well as team and league player personnel executives to identify and recruit talent in an exclusive athletic atmosphere, and will for the first time, give an athlete the opportunity to post a professional athletic resume, make credible stats available, and have a platform to market their talent exclusively for coaches."
The national scouting combines will be conducted in af2 markets and at additional neutral-site environments as well. These league-integrated combines will be run by present and former af2 coaches as well as other qualified members from the National Scouting Combine staff. Athletes who participate in a combine will be allowed to use the information gathered from the event through their individual network profile.
Details on the league's first national combine will be announced as soon as they become available.
