af2 sees significant attendance increases

CHICAGO - Through the first three weeks of the 2004 season, af2 teams are reporting sharp increases in average attendance when compared to figures from 2003, the league office announced today.

"Our teams have spent a great deal of time working together to exchange ideas and are now reaping the benefits," said af2 Executive Director Jay Marcus. "We believe our attendance will keep increasing as the season progresses."

Week 3 average attendance (5,541) shot up 11 percent when compared to the Week 3 average of the 2003 season (4,983). The cumulative average of the first three weeks of this season (5,565) is 12.5 percent better than the same period from a year ago. Overall, the 2004 attendance average of 5,565 is 20 percent higher than last season's regular season average of 4,626.

About af2 Celebrating its Fifth Anniversary season, af2 is a grass-roots developmental Arena Football league for players, coaches and officials. Operating under the same Mission Statement and Fans' Bill of Rights as the Arena Football League, over 175 players have advanced the AFL over the past four seasons.
