HOUSTON, Texas - The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros and right wing Joey Tetarenko have agreed to terms on a contract for the 2006-07 season, the team announced Wednesday. Tetarenko has spent the last two seasons in Houston.

Tetarenko, 28 (3/3/78), posted two points (1-1=2) and 125 penalty minutes in 40 regular season games in 2005-06, and he scored his first career post-season goal in the Aeros' series-clinching, 5-3 win over Peoria in the West Division Semifinals. In two seasons with the Aeros, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Prince Albert, Sask., has notched three points (1-2=3) and 174 penalty minutes in 55 games.

"Joey brings us a measure of toughness, leadership and competitiveness that is a necessary part of a winning team," Aeros general manager Tom Lynn said. "He will also continue to be an important force in developing our younger players."

Tetarenko has 326 games of AHL experience with Houston, New Haven, Louisville, San Antonio, Binghamton and Lowell, putting up 63 points (16-47=63) and 861 penalty minutes in 327 games. He also has played 73 National Hockey League games with Florida, Ottawa and Carolina, posting five points (4-1=5) and 176 penalty minutes. Tetarenko was Florida's fourth-round pick (No. 82 overall) in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
