Admirals Sign Two from ECHL

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announced today that the club has signed two forwards, Matthew Pistilli and Casey Pierro-Zabotel, to professional tryout contracts (PTO). Prior to the acquisition, the wingers ' 2014-15 seasons were spent in the ECHL.

Pistilli, 26, has played 12 games so far with the Fort Wayne Komets. In that time he has amassed 13 points on five goals and eight assists, as well as a plus-minus rating of +2. The 6-foot-2, 219-pound right wing was a member of three teams in 2013-14, bouncing between the Florida Everblades of the ECHL and the Charlotte Checkers and Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL). With Florida, he contributed 17 goals and 40 points in 52 games, to go along with a combined 15 points in the AHL in 34 games.

Pierro-Zabotel, 26, has been primarily with the Gwinnett Gladiators for the last three years. Over the span of 11 games this season, the Ashcroft, British Columbia native offered seven goals and 13 points. In a total 113 games with the Arizona Coyotes ' affiliate dating back to 2012-13, he has scored 36 goals and 80 assists for 116 points. During that time span, he has also spent time with the Checkers for five games (two points) as well as the Lausitzer Foxes of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) for 33 games (22 points).

The Admirals travel to Charlotte to face the Checkers tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Scope this Friday and Saturday in a back-to-back with the Portland Pirates.
