Admirals Fall in Overtime 129-123

Scranton, PA. Lake Michigan took Scranton Wilkes-Barre to overtime before falling 129-123, Sunday at Lackawana College. The Steamers move to 4-3 in the Premier Basketball League and the Admirals remain winless at 0-5.

The Steamers took control in the fourth quarter, stretching their six-point halftime lead to 11 with just over two minutes left in regulation. The Admirals cut the lead to five with a three-pointer and then two with a quick bucket and 16 seconds showing. Scranton picked up a technical and Tychicus Snow pulled the Admirals to within one before Pete Trammell was fouled with 8.7 seconds. He made one of two, sending the game into overtime.

Scranton Willkes-Barre took advantage of two Admiral turnovers and watched as Vince Simpson scored nine of the team's 16 points in overtime. Simpson led all scorers with 31 points.

The Admirals placed seven players in double figures. Snow had 25, Ogdra Bobo (19), Steve Strong (16), Florentino Vallencia with a double double, 15 points and 11 rebounds, Jason Underwood (14), Pete Trammell and Courtney Blackmore 12.

Lake Michigan played without its second leading scorer, Rodney Alexander. Alexander was picked up by Iceland in the European League on Thursday according to team owner Chris Glisson.

Rob Robinson scored a double double for Scranton, 23 points and 18 rebounds. Chris Commons added 16, Tyler Bullock 14 and Kyle Robbins 11.

The Admirals led in field goal percentage (46.81), three point percentage (36.36), steals (12) and turnovers with 18. The Steamers outrebounded Lake Michigan 68-49 as the Admirals lost the offensive war, 31-16.

Lake Michigan will be at home February 11 to face the Dayton Air Strikers (2-4) at Lake Michigan Catholic. Game time is 6 PM.
