Adam Harrington Returns To Columbus Riverdragons

GREENVILLE, S.C., February 21 – The Columbus Riverdragons of the National Basketball Development League re-acquired guard Adam Harrington and waived guard Kevin Braswell, according to an announcement today by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone.

Harrington returns to the Riverdragons roster following his rehabilitation from an injury suffered in the Dragons 89-83 win on January 25 at Asheville. The 6-5, 200-pound shooting guard has appeared in 19 games with one start for Columbus during the 2004-05 NBDL season. Harrington currently leads the club and is third overall in the NBDL in three-point field goal percentage (44%). The Riverdragons 2004-05 allocation player, Harrington is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game.

Harrington played in 17 games for the Riverdragons last season, averaging 26.4 minutes, 11.2 points, and 1.7 rebounds. He was waived by Columbus on March 31 to rehabilitate a nagging injury, but rebounded to play on the Indiana Pacers NBA summer league team at the 2004 Rocky Mountain Revue.

Harrington, a 6-5, 200-pound product of Auburn ('02), came to the Riverdragons after competing in NBA training camp with the Washington Wizards in 2003. Harrington played in 19 NBA games during the 2002-03 season with the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets. A two-year letterman at Auburn, Harrington averaged 12.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game during a three-year career with the Tigers.

Braswell appeared in 12 games for Columbus, averaging 9.3 points, 2.7 assists, and 21.0 minutes per game while shooting 38% from the floor, 13% from three-point range and 88% from the free throw line. Acquired by the Riverdragons on January 20, the 6-2, guard from Georgetown ('02) posted a team-high 20 points for the Dragons versus Roanoke on January 26. Braswell began the 2004-05 season with the Florida Flame, appearing in 15 games. Overall, Braswell averaged 11.3 points and 5.3 assists per game with both Columbus and Florida.

The NBDL, the NBA's minor league, includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.) and Asheville Altitude (N.C.).

The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Thirty-three (33) players have been called up the NBA on 44 separate occasions. Nine former NBDL coaches, five athletic trainers, 11 referees and 29 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001. Six additional front office executives have earned positions with other major league sports.
