Ackley Signs with Hammerheads

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced today that they have welcomed forward Brian Ackley to the squad for the 2014 USL PRO regular season. This will be Ackley's first season with the Hammerheads and his second season competing in USL PRO.
Ackley, at native of Raleigh, North Carolina, makes the transition to the Hammerheads from a two year stint with the Carolina Railhawks of the North American Soccer League (NASL). Ackley tallied three goals and two assists with the Railhawks in 2012 before duplicating the same statistics again in 2013.
"I am excited to be in Wilmington and helping the team with their goal of winning a championship," said Ackley. "There is a lot of talent on the team which should excite the fans. Hopefully we can give them a thrilling season, plus a trophy."
Signing mid-season with the Harrisburg City Islanders of USL PRO in 2011, Ackley was a key component to their run through August and playoffs.
Prior to entering USL PRO in 2011, Ackley worked with Reading United of the Premier Development League after playing overseas for a year in Czech Republic and New Zealand where he calculated an overall total of nine goals and 11 assists.
The Indiana University graduate was a member of the U-23 Carolina Railhawks upon finishing his four-year collegiate men's soccer career in 2008.
Wilmington Hammerheads FC will kick off their regular season on Saturday, April 5 at Legion Stadium versus the Harrisburg City Islanders.
